Get Help from Someone Who’s Already There
Moving is easier when you know someone at your new duty station. That’s why we use sponsorship, a program where someone from your next unit helps you get settled.
Your sponsor is a trained service member who can:
- Answer questions about your new location
- Help with check-in and paperwork
- Share tips about housing, schools, and child care
- Be a friendly face during your transition
Sponsors are assigned by your gaining unit. If you haven’t been contacted by a sponsor, your local ACS can help you reach out and request one.
Sponsorship isn’t just for service members. Many ACS offices also support spouse sponsorship or help link Families with other Families who’ve already made the move.
Sponsorship Training
ACS also helps units get ready to support incoming personnel. We offer Sponsorship Support Training for Soldiers and leaders, including:
- How to be a good sponsor
- What information to share
- Tools like the Army Career Tracker (ACT)
- How to follow up with incoming Soldiers and Families
Below are several links that can assist you during each step of your move.
