Helping You Feel at Home in a New Place
Moving to a new country – or even a new part of the U.S. – can be exciting…but also challenging. The Relocation Readiness Program offers Language and Cultural Support to help Soldiers, Families, and DoW Civilians adjust to their new surroundings.
If English is not your first language, we can help with:
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
- Help understanding community norms and customs
- Referrals to translation or interpretation services
- Support with daily tasks like shopping, transportation, or appointments
We also offer welcome sessions for spouses who are new to Army life or American culture. These sessions can help you feel more confident, make friends, and learn how to get involved in your community.
Host Nation Orientation
Host Nation Orientation, where applicable, offers all in-processing personnel and their Families orientation on the local culture, language, transportation and tourism offerings.
ESL materials are available at Army Libraries around Europe. A catalog of all books, audiotapes, and videos can be found here. For additional ESL assistance please contact your ACS.
*If applicable.
German Language Class
ACS also offers a German Language Class for free on a weekly basis. The classes are self-paced and open to students of all levels of understanding.
