Army Emergency Relief (AER) is the US Army's own nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating financial distress in the force. AER provides grants and zero-interest loans to active-duty and retired Soldiers and their Families. AER has supported over 4 million Soldiers since 1942. Areas of Financial Support.
1. Basic Needs & Housing. Provides financial support to assist in maintaining stable housing and basic essential living needs.
2. Care During a Crisis. Ensures immediate access to financial support during critical and stressful life events generally associated with natural disasters.
3. Health & Wellness. Provides financial support for expenses that are essential to maintaining health and wellness.
4. Supporting Families. Ensures immediate access to financial support for unique situations that impact family resilience and well-being.
5. Workforce Development. Provides financial support for a variety of workforce development needs to enhance career opportunities, employability and professional growth.
How to Apply
Apply for grants and zero-interest loans using AER’s online portal https://aerprod.powerappsportals.us/. The new feature allows Soldiers, retired Soldiers and Army Families the ability to request assistance anytime and from anywhere in the world. For help with “time sensitive” Emergency Travel requests (meaning you are requesting to travel within the next 12 hours), or assistance using the portal during AER section office closures, weekends, or holidays, email: soldierportalhelp@aerhq.org.
