LOVE LETTERS
Authors:  A.R.GURNEY

A unique and imaginative theatre piece in which two affluent persons, who were childhood friends, tell the story through their lifelong correspondence.

This contact begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards.  Romantically attached, they continue to exchange letters throughout their school years.  While he is at war, she marries, but their attachment remains strong, and the contact continues.

He is eventually elected to the U.S Senate, while her marriage is in tatters - she drinks more than she should and is estranged from her children.

Eventually they become involved in a brief affair, but it is really too late for both of them.  However, his last letter, written to her mother after her untimely death, makes it eloquently clear how much they really meant, and gave to, each other over the years – physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.
