On Christmas Eve 1818, the song, “Silent Night” was written and first sung on this location. In 1914, during the Christmas truce of WWI, the carol was sung in French, English, and German simultaneously as it was the one song all soldiers on all sides knew by heart.
Join MWR Tours on this very special tour of the Silent Night Chapel. First spend the afternoon at the Salzburg Christmas Market, then sing “Silent Night” in the Chapel in Oberndorf during your evening tour.
