Bear witness to the time of the concentration camps. A concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a “school of violence” for the SS men under whose command it stood and became the longest running one. Learn all about the history of Dachau with your English guided tour of the camp. Learn about the atrocities so they will never happen again.
After Dachau we then go to downtown Munich, Bavaria’s capital, and home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, which will be taking place at the date of this tour. A quick train ride away you can see it for yourself during your free time in the city. Munich hosts the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square which contains landmarks such as the Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century. Whether you choose to take a peek at the famous Oktoberfest or enjoy the city, you will be guaranteed a wonderful time!
