- Summer Reading Program
Patch Library’s 2018 Summer Reading Program “Reading Takes You Everywhere” will begin with a kick-off party on June 28 from 1-3 p.m.
Every Thursday from 1-3 p.m., children enrolled in the Summer Reading Program can visit the Patch Barracks library to receive their weekly reading prize and enjoy themed games and crafts as we “travel” to all sorts of different times and places.
To enroll in the program and log your minutes spent reading, visit our Summer Reading Website at patchlibrary.beanstack.org. Registration opens in May. This website is the only reading log that will count toward end-of-program prizes.
Our Summer Reading Wrap-up party will take place on August 2 from 1-3 p.m., where all children, teens, and adults who were registered for our program will be eligible to win fun prizes! We’ll also be serving snacks from around the world, so don’t miss out.
Our grand prize, which will be raffled off at the Wrap-up Party, is a family trip to Europa Park worth $1000. All community members must register online by August 1 to be eligible for this prize. Tickets can be earned by logging reading time on patchlibrary.beanstack.org and attending Summer Reading events at Patch Library.
Thank you or reading with your Army MWR libraries this summer!
- Frequently Asked Questions
1. How can I get to the library website?
The library website can be accessed by clicking on the facilities & programs icon on the Stuttgart MWR website and locating Patch Library and scrolling down to the Army Europe Library tab.
2. How do I become a library cardholder?
All you have to do to become a library cardholder is to come in and present your military I.D. and fill out our patron registration form.
3. Is there a limit on the number of books to be checked out at a time?
There is no limit on books, CD’s, or audio books.
There is a 10 movie limit per I.D. cardholder and a limit of 2 video games per I.D. cardholder.
4. Can I check out books, movies, and CD’s together?
5. How long may I check items out for?
Books, audio books, and CD’s have a 3 week check out.
Video games/ T.V. series have a 2 week check out.
Movies have a 1 week check out.
6. Can I order items from other libraries?
Yes, we are able to reserve items from any other Army Library throughout Europe (i.e.: Vicenza, Bavaria, Livorno, etc.)
7. What happens if I lose a library item?
Upon registering for your new account we have you sign a patron replacement policy which states that the new patron understands that if an item either comes back damaged beyond something that the library can fix, or an item gets lost that they are responsible for replacing that item with the same like item in new condition. It cannot be used material. If the patron cannot find that same item to replace then we ask them to please speak to one of the library staff and we can let them know what they can replace the item with.
8. How will I get notified if a library item is past due?
When registering for your new library account we ask for a good email for the patron. This email is where the patron will be notified with information from our libraries, whether it is to let them know that an item is overdue or to let them know if an item they requested came in.
9. What kind of events or promotions do you put on?
There is a toddler story time every Friday at 11:00 am.
It is always best to contact the library in regards to programming as it can change.
10. Can you download E-books to your phone or tablet?
Yes, when we set up your account the patron has the option of setting up a 4 digit pin that will enable them to access the Army Europe Library online. From there the patron can download e-books or e-audio to which ever E-reader the patron has (i.e.: IPad, Nook, Tablets, Kindle, etc.). We also provide pamphlets that give the patron step-by-step instructions on how to set up their E-readers.
