Match Play Championship

Tournament is a 2-part event: 

Part 1. On Sunday, Jul. 23 the stroke play qualifier takes place.  The 18-hole round of golf is scored at NET (with full handicap).  The lowest score will be seeded #1, second lowest seeded #2 and so on.  If a full field of 64 players (or 32) is not attained, the top finishers will receive BYE's. The players will be placed in brackets (like the NCAA basketball tournament).

Part 2.  Matches will be played within certain time-frame windows (listed below).  Matches will be played with full handicap.  An established handicap is required to participate.  Winners continue on until the final match determines the winner and runner-up.  

The prize pool will be split as follows: 25% toward qualifying round top finishers and 75% toward the Match Play (MP) portion.  The Match Play champion will win a trophy and pro shop gift certificate.  The top " Elite Eight" will win prizes.

The schedule of matches played are as follows:

• first round must be completed by Aug. 6
• second round Aug. 27
• third round by Sep.10
• fourth round by Sep. 24
• The final matches should be played between Sep. 25  - Oct. 14 (although it is possible that rounds may be completed before the deadlines and the next round moved forward).

The lower seed is responsible for arranging the match.  If a match is not played the higher seed will win by forfeit, unless special circumstances dictate otherwise.
